2025-03-07 09:36:33

Tonight, I’ve held a video meeting with the representatives of the Modesto Sister Cities Committee (California, USA). Particularly, there have been a conversation with Dr. Serhiy Samborsky – committee member, Richard Navarro – chairman of the Khmelnytskyi-Modesto subcommittee, Adrian Harrell – chairman of the Alumni Association, and Richard Andersen – philanthropist.

The meeting incarnates the support for Ukraine translated by the people of the United States of America. I sincerely thank you for the great assistance we have here in Ukraine from the United States. This is extremely important at this difficult point as we share the values and a common vision of a democratic future. The support provided by US is not only represented by diplomatic or financial assistance, but also stands with us morally, spiritually, and we are forever grateful for this.

During the meeting our American friends have accented the projects that are implemented in US to assist Ukraine and its Armed Forces since the beginning of full-scale Russia invasion.

There are many projects. For example, there have been hold the “Ukrainian Borscht” event in Modesto, where the amount of $75,000 was raised in one evening to purchase generators for Ukrainian healthcare facilities. Another big amount of money – UAH 400,000 – have been collected by residents during the screening of a documentary about Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russian racists. Those money was transferred to the St. John Paul II Center in Sharovechka to finance psychologists who help defenders, veterans and their families.

Back in 2022, the Modesto City Council adopted a declaration of support for Ukraine in its fight for freedom and independence.

Our partners abroad are spreading the truth about the war in Ukraine and refuting Russian propaganda in various ways.

During the meeting we’ve also discussed the importance of further cooperation with our American friends during and after war; have identified several common interest key areas, such as: veteran rehabilitation, medical care, education, culture, sports. Modesto City has experience that is extremely important for us, and we are so ready to deepen the cooperation in mentioned fields. There has also been planned the documentaries’ screening – “Shape of Fire” and “Battle for the Light” – for the American audience.

Once again, I would like to thank all the participants of the meeting for the productive discussion as well as for their sincerity and cordiality. With joint efforts, together we can take a big step towards a future where Ukraine and the United States continue to support each other on the path to a righteous peace.

Glory to Ukraine!
